Mark Melasky
Mark Melasky began his intellectual property career earlier than most when a national boutique law firm selected him for a college scholarship and offered a recurring position as a law clerk. Mark pursued a mechanical engineering degree to become patent bar eligible, focusing on becoming a registered patent attorney while working in IP-related internships along the way.
At IPC, Mark’s practice includes patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and related intellectual property and business formation matters. He represents diverse clients, ranging from first-time inventors and startups to multinational corporations. Mark often serves as outside general counsel to his clients, advising on business matters, licensing, litigation, and mergers and acquisitions. He has extensive trademark prosecution experience, including filing thousands of trademark applications and responses for domestic and international clients.
Mark is an Adjunct Professor at the Tulane University School of Professional Advancement, where he teaches Intellectual Property & Entertainment Law in the General Legal Studies Program and Cyber Law & Policy in the Information Technology Management Program.
Mark is the co-founder and steering committee chair of The Ella Project’s Louisiana Invents, part of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Pro Bono Program that matches volunteer attorneys with inventors having limited resources.
Mark is a licensed Zumba® Fitness instructor and teaches weekly classes. He is a member of the Krewe of Endymion, the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus, and the Hogs for a Cause team Lard and In Charge.
